Afgelopen woensdag was het zoals te verwachten, vanwege de Nobelprijs voor de Vrede, bal op vooral de Duitse
radiozenders WDR 5 en Deutschlandfunk, al loog men ook op de BBC en NPO
Radio1 keihard over Machado en Venezuela, waarbij men op geen enkel
moment aanhaalde dat zij de door de VS al 20 jaar lang ingestelde sancties steunde tegen Venezuela (haar land). Sancties die zoals een paar jaar geleden al bekend werd gemaakt aan minstens 100.000 mensen, inclusief een groot aantal kinderen, het leven
hebben gekost (ofwel die mensen zijn vermoord!!), sancties die verder de economie van Venezuela ernstig hebben geschaad*. (volgens The Lancet is het aantal slachtoffer van sancties in de meeste gevallen groter dan die door oorlogsvoering....) Je zal begrijpen dat het aantal slachtoffers als gevolg van die sancties, in feite een vorm van oorlogsvoering, nu een heel stuk groter is....

Niets ook over de VS aanvallen op bootjes die uit Venezuela komen,
zogenaamd met drugs voor de VS, terwijl de FBI en de CIA hebben
verklaard dat er vanuit Venezuela praktisch geen drugs worden uitgevoerd..... Het aantal doden van die illegale VS aanvallen en ronduit moorden wordt al meer dan een week op meer dan 80 gehouden,
het zal me niet verbazen als dit de 100 intussen is gepasseerd.... De
reguliere westerse media stelden aanvankelijk dat het volgens de VS om
vermeende 'drugsbootjes' zou gaan, daarmee aangevend dat het maar de vraag
is of dit waar is, waarbij nog werd gemeld dat er door de VS geen
bewijs werd gegeven voor die bewering. Intussen spreekt men bij wijze van spreken zonder met de ogen te knipperen over 'drugsbootjes' dit op onder andere WDR 5,
Deutschlandfunk en de BBC World Service radio.... (nogmaals: zonder enig bewijs voor die bewering!!) Het valt me alles mee dat de NOS op NPO Radio1 nog wel meldt dat er geen bewijs wordt geleverd voor de beweringen door de VS (hoe de andere zendgemachtigden op NPO Radio1 berichten over deze 'drugsbootjes' weet ik niet, daar de programmering van die zendgemachtigden zo allemachtig slecht is dat ik er allang geen tijd meer aan besteed)
Deutschlandfunk begon (voor mij) die woensdag rond 9.10 u. met de aftrap >> met veel
omhaal werd verteld dat Maduro een dictator is en dat Venezuela een
dictatuur is, wat absoluut niet waar is, Venezuela is een democratie en
Maduro is democratisch gekozen. Dat de rechtse oppositie Maduro niet
kan verslaan is geen wonder als je bedenkt dat Maduro en zijn voorganger
Chavez het grootste deel van de Venezolaanse bevolking uit de armoede
hebben getrokken, hen gratis volksgezondheid brachten, hen
alfabetisering en verdere scholing brachten, hen goede en goedkope
huisvesting brachten plus goedkope energie.
Volgens
Deutschlandfunk ging de dochter van Machado naar Oslo, daar Machado
ondergedoken zou zitten in Venezuela. Ook WDR 5 kwam met een dergelijk
bericht. Verder werd gesteld dat de Venezolaanse overheid zou hebben gedreigd haar
te arresteren als ze zou proberen te vertrekken. Echter in het nieuws van 12.00 u. afgelopen woensdagmiddag meldde
men op de laatste zender dat Machado toch naar Oslo onderweg was.
In het nieuws van 12.30 u. diezelfde woensdagmiddag meldde Deutschlandfunk dat de reis van Machado 'onder
bijzonder gevaarlijke omstandigheden had plaatsgevonden', zonder ook
maar met een paar woorden aan te geven waarom dit zo zou zijn......
Gisteren (11 oktober 2025) in het NOS Radio1 nieuws van 8.00 u. als eerste een bericht over Machado, waarin werd gezegd dat ze een dag eerder net te laat was aangekomen in Oslo om de Nobelprijs in ontvangst te nemen, haar dochter had dit voor haar gedaan, dit aldus de nieuwslezer vanwege een uitreisverbod dat Machado was opgelegd. Eigenlijk 1 van de varianten, die de dag ervoor al voorbij waren gekomen. Geen woord over de terreur van de VS die een olietanker afkomstig uit Venezuela had geënterd en het beheer daarover had overgenomen, niets anders dan piraterij die de hele wereld op de kop had moeten zetten, maar als gezegd niet belangrijk genoeg was voor het nieuws van 8.00 u., dat begon met het uitgekauwde nieuws over Machado van een dag eerder en waar schunnig genoeg pas als vierde onderwerp het onderlopen van tentenkampen in de Gazastrook voorbijkwam, waarbij de fascistische terreurstaat Israël alles gebruikt om zoveel mogelijk Palestijnse mensen te vermoorden, direct of zoals in dit geval indirect door het weer, daar het Israëlische leger zo ongeveer alle huizen heeft platgebombardeerd, dit met hulp van het westen >> zowel met politieke steun, als middels wapen- en munitieleveringen.....
Wat betreft die olietanker is het ongelofelijk te horen hoe de reguliere westerse media die stap van de VS verdedigen en daarbij net doen alsof de sancties tegen dat land door een VN-resolutie worden gesteund, terwijl ze illegaal door de VS zijn opgelegd en worden gesteund door haar slaafse westerse vazallen. Men stelt in die media dat Venezuela de uitvoer van olie gebruikt om de economie draaiend te houden en dat daarmee de sancties worden ontdoken, terwijl deze sancties als gezegd illegaal zijn opgelegd..... (alsof het een misdaad is dat Venezuela die sancties ontduikt en dat de landen die deze olie importeren zich daar ook schuldig aan maken.....)

I saw the headline “María Corina Machado wins the Peace Prize,”
I almost laughed at the absurdity. But I didn’t, because there’s
nothing funny about rewarding someone whose politics have brought so
much suffering.
Anyone
who knows what she stands for knows there’s nothing remotely
peaceful about her politics. If this is what counts as “peace” in
2025, then the prize itself has lost every ounce of credibility. I’m
Venezuelan-American, and I know exactly what Machado represents.
She’s
the smiling face of Washington’s regime-change machine, the
polished spokesperson for sanctions, privatization, and foreign
intervention dressed up as democracy.
Machado’s
politics are steeped in violence. She has called for foreign
intervention, even appealing directly to Benjamin Netanyahu, the
architect of Gaza’s annihilation, to help “liberate” Venezuela
with bombs under the banner of “freedom.” She has demanded
sanctions, the silent form of warfare whose effects – as studies in
The Lancet and other journals have shown – have killed more people
than war, cutting off medicine, food, and energy to entire
populations.
Machado
has spent her entire political life promoting division, eroding
Venezuela’s sovereignty, and denying its people the right to live
with dignity.
This
is who María Corina Machado really is:
She
helped lead the 2002 coup that briefly overthrew a democratically
elected president and signed the Carmona Decree that erased the
Constitution and dissolved every public institution overnight.
She
worked hand in hand with Washington to justify regime change, using
her platform to demand foreign military intervention to “liberate”
Venezuela through force.
She
cheered on Donald Trump’s threats of invasion and his naval
deployments in the Caribbean, a show of force that risks igniting
regional war under the pretext of “combating narcotrafficking.”
While Trump sent warships and froze assets, Machado stood ready to
serve as his local proxy, promising to deliver Venezuela’s
sovereignty on a silver platter.
She
pushed for the U.S. sanctions that strangled the economy, knowing
exactly who would pay the price: the poor, the sick, and the working
class.
She
helped construct the so-called “interim government,” a
Washington-backed puppet show run by a self-appointed “president”
who looted Venezuela’s resources abroad while children at home went
hungry.
She
vows to reopen Venezuela’s embassy in Jerusalem, aligning herself
openly with the same apartheid state that bombs hospitals and calls
it self-defense.
Now
she wants to hand over the country’s oil, water, and infrastructure
to private corporations. This is the same recipe that made Latin
America the laboratory of neoliberal misery in the 1990s.
Machado
was also one of the political architects of La Salida, the 2014
opposition campaign that called for escalated protests, including
guarimba tactics. Those weren’t “peaceful protests,” as the
foreign press claimed; they were organized barricades meant to
paralyze the country and force the government’s fall. Streets were
blocked with burning trash and barbed wire, buses carrying workers
were torched, and people suspected of being Chavistas were beaten or
killed. Even ambulances and doctors were attacked. Some Cuban medical
brigades were nearly burned alive. Public buildings, food trucks, and
schools were destroyed. Entire neighborhoods were held hostage by
fear while opposition leaders like Machado cheered from the sidelines
and called it “resistance.”
She
praises Trump’s “decisive action” against what she calls a
“criminal enterprise,” aligning herself with the same man who
cages migrant children and tears families apart under ICE’s watch
while Venezuelan mothers search for their children disappeared by
U.S. migration policies.
Machado
isn’t a symbol of peace or progress. She is part of a global
alliance between fascism, Zionism, and neoliberalism – an axis that
justifies domination in the language of democracy and peace. In
Venezuela, that alliance has meant coups, sanctions, and
privatization. In Gaza, it means genocide and the erasure of a
people. The ideology is the same: a belief that some lives are
disposable, that sovereignty is negotiable, and that violence can be
sold as order.
If
Henry Kissinger could win a Nobel Peace Prize, why not María Corina
Machado? Maybe next year they’ll give one to the Gaza Humanitarian
Foundation for “compassion under occupation.”
Every
time this award is handed to an architect of violence disguised as
diplomacy, it spits in the face of those who actually fight for
peace, like the Palestinian journalists in Gaza who, with no safety
or rest, document the bombings, name the victims, and keep the truth
alive when the world looks away.

Zoals je al kon lezen heeft Machado meegewerkt aan een mislukte coup tegen Chavez, daar de rechtse oppositie als gezegd nooit een meerderheid zal krijgen in Venezuela, anders dan middels een staatsgreep**. Eerder schoof de VS met steun van de rest van het westen (en haar eenzijdige reguliere media) de ronduit fascistische schreeuwer Guaidó naar voren als 'oppositieleider' terwijl hij amper 2% van de stemmen wist te behalen, ik heb gezocht hoeveel procent van de stemmen 'Vente Venezuela' de partij van Machado vorig jaar won bij de presidentsverkiezingen, echter dat cijfer kon ik niet vinden (ik geef toe dat ik maar 5 minuten heb gezocht, maar dat zou normaal gesproken ruim voldoende moeten zijn...)
Afgelopen woensdag nog gaf Google nog aan dat Edmundo González de oppositieleider was in Venezuela, een dag later dus 11 december werd dat plotseling veranderd in Machado en toen ik daarna de vorige oppositieleider zocht kreeg ik van Google als uitkomst de fascistische schreeuwer Guaidó (dus i.p.v. González).... Zo snel kan de desinformatie veranderen en uiteraard doen de reguliere westerse media mee aan deze enorme oplichting.....
Gisternacht (die van 10 op 11 december) en daarna overdag veel halleluja jutteperen over Machado en dat ze de avond daarvoor vanaf haar balkon het Venezolaanse volkslied zong, met hulp van medestanders beneden.... Natuurlijk geen melding over het feit dat deze kwaadaardige, inhumane figuur achter illegale westerse sancties stond en staat, sancties die zoals gezegd een paar jaar geleden al aan meer dan 100.000 Venezolanen het leven hebben gekost, ofwel mensen waaronder veel kinderen die indirect werden vermoord als gevolg van die sancties onder andere gesteund door Nederland.....

Trump administration has alleged that these groups, working with

There is no legal justification for Trump’s military strike on an

Diezelfde afgelopen vrijdag berichtte men 's avonds op de Britse staatsradiozender BBC World Service na 23.00 u. (CET) al evenzeer over het Eurovisie Songfestival. Nog net werd genoemd dat een paar landen zich hadden teruggetrokken uit dit festival, al was dit volgens de presentator teruggebracht tot 1 land, vanwege 'het conflict' in de Gazastrook, zonder te stellen dat het hier om een overduidelijke genocide gaat. Men had een zionistische Israëlische journalist, die meteen ven leer trok en net deed alsof er op 7 oktober 2023 voor het eerst strijd was ontstaan tussen de Palestijnen en Israël met de uitbraak van Hamas uit de openluchtgevangenis die de Gazastrook was en is. (in werkelijkheid was hier al sprake van ver voordat Israël zich in 1948 illegaal als soeverein land neerzette). Israeli Military Raids Escalate in Occupied Syrian Border Villages
Israeli
forces are entrenching even further in Syria as Benjamin Netanyahu
says he wants a demilitarized “buffer zone” stretching to
Damascus.

QUNEITRA, SYRIA—In what
has become a regular occurrence in southwest Syria, Israeli tanks and
troops stormed the Quneitra countryside on Monday, taking up
positions in the village of Saida Al-Hanout. As drones flew overhead,
Israeli military units set up a temporary checkpoint and searched
civilians before eventually withdrawing.
Over the past year, Israeli
forces have established nine military posts in southern Syria;
constructed military installations less than one kilometer from
villages; demolished at least 12 buildings in al-Hamidiya; razed over
45 hectares of the Jubata al-Khashab forest; and seized thousands of
dunams of agricultural land, cutting off access to farmers’
livelihoods. Local officials told Drop Site News that, in total,
Israel has illegally seized between 600 and 800 square kilometers of
southern Syrian territory through more than 200 incursions.
Israeli military operations
in the area have escalated in recent weeks, with Israeli troops
displacing residents, destroying farmland, snatching people off the
streets and taking them across the border to Israeli detention
centers.
In the deadliest attack over
the past year, thirteen Syrians were killed, including two children,
and dozens more wounded in an Israeli military raid on the southern
village of Beit Jinn on Friday. Residents confronted Israeli forces
who entered the village after shelling the area, leading to “violent
clashes,” according to Syrian state news agency SANA.
The border area in southern
Syria was previously a UN-patrolled, demilitarized buffer zone
established in a 1974 disengagement agreement that officially ended
hostilities between Israel and Syria. Israel seized most of the Golan
Heights from Syria in the 1967 war, eventually building illegal
settlements and unilaterally annexing the area in 1981—a move
unrecognized by the international community. Since Syrian President
Bashar al-Assad’s ouster last December, Israel has occupied more
Syrian territory—including the whole of Jabal al-Sheikh, a mountain
that overlooks northern Israel and southern Syria—and has been
further entrenching itself in recent weeks, advancing to the
outskirts of Damascus in what critics say is nothing more than a land
grab.
On Tuesday, Israeli Prime
Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he wants a new “buffer zone” on
Syrian land stretching to the capital. “What we expect Syria to do
is, of course, to establish a demilitarised buffer zone from Damascus
to the buffer area, including the approaches to Mount Hermon and the
Hermon peak,” Netanyahu said, using the Israeli name for Jabal
al-Sheikh.
Last month, Israeli soldiers
installed a permanent yellow gate without warning at the entrance to
al-Samadaniyah al-Gharbiyah, a small farming village. The gate is
located four kilometers (2.4 miles) (2.4 miles) from the center of
Quneitra governorate, cutting the village off from neighboring towns
and obstructing the main road that that residents rely on to reach
markets, schools, and hospitals. It marked the fifth permanent gate
erected by the Israeli military across Quneitra since Assad’s fall
last year. Israeli soldiers now regularly stop and harass residents,
turning daily life into an ordeal.
“They are trying to impose
a new reality, so that they can exploit later,” Hayel al-Abdullah,
the village head of al-Samadaniyah al-Gharbiyah, told Drop Site.
Netanyahu visited Israeli
military positions in Syria last week in a publicized trip that
prompted widespread condemnation. Accompanied by top defense and
security officials, Netanyahu reviewed deployments, received
operational briefings, and argued that Israel’s continued presence
in the cross-border buffer zone was essential for national security.
The Syrian government condemned the move as a “serious violation”
of its sovereignty and called for a full Israeli withdrawal and
return to the 1974 agreement though it has taken no other action.
Life
Under Occupation
Israel’s military
expansion in southern Syria has been accompanied by systematic
intimidation, with troops raiding homes in the middle of the night,
setting up flying checkpoints without warning, and isolating villages
behind military barricades and gates. Dozens of families have fled
the area, according to residents and local officials, and over 40
Syrians have been detained.
A number of residents told
Drop Site News that they are routinely stopped at both temporary and
permanent checkpoints, where soldiers search them, inspect their
belongings, and scroll through the contents of their mobile phones.
Majd Azzam, a man in his 20s
from the village of Al-Asbah, was hospitalized after Israeli soldiers
beat him at a checkpoint in Kudnah in October. His offense was a
photograph on his mobile phone with him wearing a keffiyeh, the
traditional checkered scarf worn across the region, which the
soldiers viewed as “terrorist attire,” Azzam’s father told Drop
Site. “Any photo they consider suspicious, they arrest the phone’s
owner, or at minimum they beat him,” he said.
The number of home raids has
escalated sharply in recent weeks, according to two local residents,
Khalil Layla and Abu Kinan Bakr, who said Israeli soldiers frequently
order all family members outside before conducting exhaustive
searches “turning the home upside down.”
Abd al-Aziz al-Mousa, a
driver who navigates the shifting network of barriers daily, said the
pressure and harassment on residents is constant. “The patrols and
flying checkpoints can appear at any time, anywhere,” he told Drop
Site.
Closed roads and rerouted
paths have made it difficult for residents to reach jobs, schools,
and farmland. In mid-November, the Israeli military installed a
temporary checkpoint at al-Samadaniyah al-Sharqiya for five hours,
preventing residents from reaching their schools, workplaces, and
local markets.
Khaled al-Khalil, a Syrian
journalist and an expert on Israeli-Syrian affairs, said Quneitra has
become “a second West Bank,” with Israel behaving as a brutal
occupying power. “They resort to military aggression to secure
their borders, using arrests, incursions and harassment of
residents,” Al-Khalil said.
As is the case in the West
Bank, the Israeli occupation has also disrupted the olive harvest in
Quneitra, a cornerstone of the local economy and cultural identity.
The Quneitra governorate is home to 400,000 olive trees, 350,000 of
them productive, according to Jamal Ali, the provincial agriculture
director. Roughly one-third now lie under Israeli control, with
farmers barred from accessing thousands of hectares of agricultural
land.
Ahmed Khair Allah—a farmer
from the village of al-Esha, located 35 kilometers (21.7 miles) away
from Quneitra—said residents are still waiting for permission from
Israeli forces to harvest olives on the slopes of Tal al-Ahmar
Gharbi, which Israeli forces have occupied and turned into a military
base.
With the Syrian state
largely absent in Quneitra, residents have used the UN Disengagement
Observer Force (UNDOF), which monitors the buffer zone under a 1973
Security Council resolution, as an intermediary with the Israeli
military. “We knock on the UN gate and inform them of our request,
then wait for a response from the occupation forces,” Khair Allah
said.
Mohammed Layla, a resident
of Tarinjah, said UN forces retreat when they encounter Israeli
forces on the road, and that Israeli tanks have positioned themselves
near UN forces who take no action. UNDOF has issued no public
statement on the recent incursions.
Jamil Abu Omar, the village
head of al-Asbah in the southwestern border strip, said some of his
village’s olive groves stretch along the slopes of Tal al-Ahmar
Sharqi and Tal al-Ahmar Gharbi, where an Israeli flag now flies. He
said twenty families have left the village for Damascus and the
surrounding areas in recent weeks, driven out by the military

Village heads estimate that
a total of 60 families have been displaced from al-Asbah, al-Esha,
al-Hamidiyah, and Bir Ajam since last December.

At least 46 Syrians have
been detained and imprisoned in Israel over the past year according
to Sajjel, a platform that tracks Israeli violations in southern
Syria. Family members have no information about their whereabouts or
conditions of detention and say they have contacted the UN and the
Red Cross to no avail.
A young man who spoke to
Drop Site on condition of anonymity said he was detained on November
10th along with his father, uncle, and cousin after they went to go
check on the family farm. Neighbors had warned them that Israeli
troops had raided the property overnight. When they arrived, they
found the farm ransacked. After leaving, they were stopped by an
Israeli patrol around 500 meters down the road.
“They handcuffed us and
blindfolded us,” the man said. Within minutes, they arrived at what
he believed was either al-Horriya base or al-Hamidiya base. He was
held for a full day and night without interrogation before being
released the following day near his home. His father, uncle, and
cousin remain in custody. The family contacted the village heads of
al-Hamidiya and al-Samadaniyah to try and get more information. When
the mukhtar of al-Samadaniyah asked a passing Israeli patrol about
the detainees, the soldiers reportedly only said “They are under
investigation.” The UNDOF told the family it had no information.
Safa al-Safadi, from Beit
Jinn, said seven people from her village were detained in June during
a large raid on the area. She described long hours contacting state
ministries trying to find out their fate, without receiving any
answer.
Khalil Layla’s village of
Tarinjah was raided one night in November. His brother Muhammad was
taken along with others from Jabata al-Khashab. “We contacted the
UN post, which in turn contacted the occupation forces, who
acknowledged their presence but provided no additional information,”
he told Drop Site.
As with thousands of
Palestinians in Israeli custody, Syrian detainees have been swallowed
up in Israel’s prison system with no due process. Palestinian
lawyer Khaled al-Mahajnah, who is a member of the Commission of
Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs in Palestine, confirmed that
Syrian detainees are being held in Ofer Prison in the occupied West
Bank. Separately, lawyer Ahmad al-Mousa, who resides in Germany, has
documented the names of 46 prisoners and corresponded with more than
a dozen international bodies about the detentions with no recourse.
Across the southern Syrian
countryside, occupying Israeli forces have now become a dangerous
reality of everyday life. Last month, Um Mohammed Layla was picking
olives in her grove close to the village of Tarinjah, as her young
children played nearby when a drone appeared overhead. Moments later,
Israeli soldiers arrived in the area. “The drones hover above the
trees while children play, then soldiers from the occupation suddenly
appear among the fields and on village roads, spreading terror and
fear,” she said.

Maccabi Tel Aviv row breaks Starmer’s cover story for colluding in genocide
The legal and ethical earthquake from Israel’s carnage in Gaza was never going to be contained there. As the Aston Villa row shows, the shockwaves for Britain will keep growing louder

No one should be surprised that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer confected yet another duplicitous antisemitism furore last week – one in which he implicitly cast West Midlands Police as colluding in Jew hatred and insisted that British Muslims be exposed to racist violence from visiting foreign football hooligans.
Starmer had demanded that a decision by the police to bar fans of an Israeli club, Maccabi Tel Aviv, from attending a Europa League match in Birmingham next month be overturned.
He indicated that the West Midlands force had approved the ban on the grounds that hatred towards Jews in Britain had reached such fever pitch that police could no longer guarantee the Israeli fans’ safety from antisemitic violence.
His reasoning defamed both the British public and the police. The media lost no time in amplifying his narrative.
But Starmer’s claims were pure disinformation – as he surely knew from the police intelligence reports that must have been submitted to him before he called for the ban to be reversed.
Sadly for Starmer, those assessments were leaked to the media. They show that West Midlands Police made the decision after receiving reports from Dutch police that Maccabi fans had instigated racist violence in Amsterdam last year – before, during and after a match with local team Ajax.
As one source with inside knowledge of the police assessments told the Guardian: “The biggest risk was always the extreme Maccabi fans who want to fight.” It had taken 5,000 Dutch police officers three days to bring the violence to an end.
The likely cost of policing next month’s Aston Villa game was estimated at at least £6m ($8m), and would have required the deployment of large numbers of specialist riot squads from across the UK.
Not unreasonably, the police concluded that giving licence to Israeli football hooligans seeking to make good on chants of “Death to Arabs” in an ethnically diverse city like Birmingham was a bad idea.
According to the assessment, even members of the Jewish community opposed letting Maccabi fans attend.
Many of the Israeli club’s hardcore supporters – those that attend away fixtures – are likely to be current or reserve soldiers who have participated in the Gaza genocide. They deserve arrest, not the UK rolling out the red carpet.
Race relations fires
But strangely, Starmer did not see it this way. In his eyes, it seems, foreign thugs and war criminals should enjoy greater privileges in Britain than local ethnic minorities. Maccabi hooligans’ right to bring their genocidal incitement and violence to the UK trumps the right of minorities to be protected.
What political advantage his advisers thought he would gain is hard to grasp. Starmer simply added yet more fuel to Britain’s race relations fires – by smearing, once again, Muslims as antisemitic and “un-British”. The only beneficiary will be Nigel Farage’s Reform party.
So what on earth is going on?
In normal circumstances, this kind of behaviour from a government whose polling figures are in freefall – and whose traditional urban heartlands are deserting it – would look like demented self-sabotage. But these are not normal times.
Starmer knows that US President Donald Trump’s “peace plan” has done nothing more than slow Israel’s genocide, and that the so-called “ceasefire”, which Israel is violating on a daily basis, will crumble sooner or later – more likely sooner.
The bad news from Gaza is not going away. But this time Israel will no longer be able to claim as a pretext that the carnage is necessary to “bring home” captives held by Hamas.
Israel’s criminality will be even more starkly on show – and so will Britain’s extensive collusion.
Starmer’s solution has been to furiously pump up fears of “antisemitism”, even if doing so – as with his implicit criticism of the West Midlands Police – makes him and his ministers look ridiculous, incompetent and bad-faith actors.
But there is a logic here – of sorts. The prime minister’s two-fold strategy on Gaza has been evident for a while.
On the one hand, Starmer has done the bare minimum to oppose Israel’s atrocities, and in the most mealy-mouthed way he can, so he can at least claim, however disingenuously, to be respecting international law.
That is what primarily drove his very belated and grudging recognition of Palestinian statehood, though he appended a raft of near-impossible conditions to hollow out the move.
And it is the rationale for his claimed – but entirely bogus – curbing of UK arms sales to Israel. In fact, Britain has been making record weapons sales to Israel since he became prime minister.
On the other, Starmer has sought to deflect attention from his core policy of inertia on Gaza – designed to keep him onside with Washington – by denouncing any meaningful criticism of Israel as posing a threat to British Jews.
Fortress state
To achieve this end, it has been necessary to wildly misrepresent the true source of the antisemitism threat in Britain.
Starmer needs to pin the blame for Jew hatred on those who oppose both Israel’s genocidal actions in Gaza and his own complicity in supporting Israel with arms, surveillance intelligence, and rhetorical and diplomatic cover.
That means his main target is the anti-racist left – a left he has been industriously purging from his own Labour Party since he became leader – and Muslim communities that identify most closely with Gaza’s suffering.
Meanwhile, he must distract attention from the real antisemites – those on the far-right, ranging from sections of the Conservative and Reform parties to an army of white nationalist goons led by Tommy Robinson, a notorious Islamophobe with multiple criminal convictions.
The ultra-right may hate Muslims and Jews equally, but they love the muscular, militarised fortress “Jewish state” of Israel, which prioritises the kind of ethnic purity and anti-Muslim bigotry they would love to see replicated in Britain.
In these circumstances, Starmer’s switch-and-bait has not been easy. Nonetheless, with the media’s backing, he has relentlessly smeared as “antisemites” anti-racists and British Jews – the “wrong sort” – who recoil from a genocide Israel claims it is doing in the name of all Jews.
Meanwhile, he has endorsed the conflation of a genocidal Israel, including its most violent football hooligans, with supposedly “right-thinking” British Jews – that is, those who identify with Israel so strongly they are blind to its crimes.
‘Clash of civilisations’
Starmer now serves as a prominent champion of the hard right’s much-loved “clash of civilisations” thesis, in which a Judeo-Christian West is assumed to be in a life-or-death, defensive war against a supposedly savage, bloodthirsty Islamic East.
In this narrative, Israel is the rampart against “barbarian Muslim hordes” seeking to storm the citadel of western civilisation.
Naturally, the right brushes aside any other explanation. Such as that Israel’s decades-long meddling in the region and relentless onslaughts on local populations – under the banner of Jewish supremacy, and brazenly as a western client state – may have incited the very response western publics are now encouraged to fear.
Starmer is no less dismissive of the self-sabotaging nature of the West’s foreign policy and its unstinting support for Israel, even in the midst of the Gaza genocide.
He cannot countenance the idea that the western-backed slaughter breathes life into assertions – once confined to more extreme groups – that there can be no accommodation with the West. That the West acts in bad faith. That it treats the lives of non-westerners as entirely worthless.
Starmer’s commitment to the “clash of civilisations” worldview was less obvious when he was continuing the previous government’s manufactured fight with “pampered, out-of-touch students” in encampments or “Hamas-sympathising lefties” on anti-genocide marches.
But he has chosen to go further.
He has proscribed as “terrorists” – apparently an upgrade from “antisemites” – the activists of Palestine Action. Their unforgivable sin was to move from street protests to direct action. They sought to put a spoke in the wheels of the British government’s complicity with the genocide, targeting factories in the UK supplying weapons to Israel.
According to Britain’s draconian terrorism laws, it is also a terrorism offence to show any support for a proscribed organisation.
Starmer appears not to have foreseen that, as a result, the police would be forced to arrest thousands of upstanding citizens – including doctors, lawyers, barristers, retired military officers, and even a former adviser to King Charles.
They have refused to bend to his decree that no debate about the legality, let alone the morality, of Britain arming Israel’s genocide can be tolerated.
Face-off with police
But now things have turned even darker. Starmer’s current duplicity has led him into siding with violent Israeli football hooligans against his own police force and Muslim communities.
The fallout from his four-square support for Israel’s genocide is that Starmer has had to import more deeply into British domestic politics the inherently divisive “clash of civilisations” ideology.
In the process, he has risked revealing how much of a charade his antisemitism narrative has been from the start.
The government’s actions were never really about protecting the Jewish community. Rather, it has been cynically using British Jews as a collective human shield, allowing Starmer to denounce any meaningful criticism of Israel as posing a threat to the Jewish community.
Starmer’s need for a cover story has been especially urgent because he was himself once a distinguished human rights lawyer, one who even served as the lead advocate in a case before the International Court of Justice in 2014 arguing that Serbia had committed genocide in the Croatian city of Vukovar.
How is he to explain his behaviour partnering with Israel and Washington over Gaza’s destruction, when it has required him to shred Britain’s obligations under international law?
He cannot claim ignorance, should there come a day when he is brought before the judges of the International Criminal Court (ICC).
So the story Starmer has been crafting instead is that he is the saviour of Britain’s Jewish community, that he has been charting a difficult course in the face of a supposedly rampant antisemitism from the left, from Muslims, from anti-genocide marchers, from student encampments, from human rights groups, from Holocaust scholars, from the United Nations, from the ICC, and now from the British police.
The over-arching narrative is that Starmer has been one of the key bulwarks against the return of Jew hatred to Europe.
The price required to protect British Jews, so this story goes, has been his role as a “critical friend” to Israel, working behind the scenes to curb its worst excesses, while damping down criticism of Israel that risks inflaming antisemitism.
The main problem for Starmer is that he is being forced to confront more and more groups and institutions to sustain this narrative – to the point where he put himself effectively in a face-off with the British police.
‘Lab rats’
Opponents of the genocide warned from the outset that what started in Gaza could not be contained there. The slaughter would inevitably provoke polarising dissent in the West, require the crushing of basic rights to silence critics of western complicity, and gradually normalise authoritarianism.
Starmer’s behaviour has proved just how correct those prognoses were.
The British prime minister’s woes are not about to end, as recent developments demonstrate. Rather, the danger continues to grow of him being charged one day as an accessory to genocide.
Francesca Albanese, the UN’s international law expert for the occupied Palestinian territories, helps make that case in a report published last week. Entitled “Gaza Genocide: A Collective Crime”, she highlights the collusion of western states in Israel’s litany of atrocities.
She notes how keen western leaders have been to portray Israel’s onslaught “as a battle of civilisation against barbarism”. In doing so, “they have reproduced the Israeli distortions of international law and colonial tropes, seeking to justify their own complicity in genocide”.
She identifies four sectors where western support has been indispensable in allowing Israel to continue its crimes: diplomatic, military and economic backing, as well as the ideological framing of Israel’s bombing and starvation of Gaza’s people as self-defence, producing a “humanitarian” problem that needs addressing rather than serving as proof of Israel’s genocidal intent.
In this last regard, she specifically names Starmer. In three separate interviews as opposition leader, he claimed that Israel had a “right” to carry through threats to cut off water and power to Gaza’s population.
As she points out, Israel cannot invoke a right to “self-defence” in Gaza under Article 51 of the UN Charter, when it has been holding the enclave’s people under a belligerent, decades-old occupation.
Starmer knows this.
Instead she argues that western leaders like Starmer have echoed the assumptions of a racist, colonial discourse in which non-westerners are viewed as “savages” who are undeserving of the protections of international law.
That discourse serves to conceal the huge profits western corporations have been reaping by colluding in Israel’s long occupation, as she documented in a previous report.
Western businesses and governments have looked to Israel to use Palestinians as lab rats for testing new surveillance technologies, systems of control and displacement, and killing machines.
These forms of oppression are already being turned against domestic populations in the West.
She points out that Starmer’s government has made the most cursory of nods to international law, such as imposing entry restrictions on two fascist ministers in Netanyahu’s government, while treating other genocide-cheering figures, such as President Isaac Herzog and senior Israeli military officials, as honoured guests.
The UK has been evasive about whether it would enforce the ICC’s arrest warrant against Netanyahu for crimes against humanity – for the starvation of Gaza that Starmer endorsed. And the UK has done nothing to prosecute British citizens who have chosen to serve on Israel’s side in the Gaza genocide, or even dissuade them from participating.
Perhaps most egregiously, a British airbase on Cyprus has served as a crucial supply line for arms to Israel and for hundreds of UK surveillance flights over Gaza.
Albanese observes: “Flight numbers and durations, often coinciding with major Israeli operations, suggest detailed knowledge and cooperation in the destruction of Gaza, extending beyond ‘hostage rescue’.”
‘Political stunt’
The International Court of Justice (ICJ), often known as the World Court, threw its own substantial weight last week behind a verdict that also implicates western leaders such as Starmer.
It was the court’s third ruling since Israel launched its campaign of slaughter in Gaza two years ago.
The first had found it “plausible” Israel was committing genocide. ICJ judges are currently investigating that charge.
The second ruling, last summer, concluded that Israel’s decades-long occupation and Jewish settlement of the Palestinian territories were illegal; that Israel must immediately withdraw from those territories, including Gaza; and that other states were obligated to put whatever pressure they could on Israel to comply.
Israel has gone in exactly the opposite direction, with its parliament last week voting to formally annex the occupied West Bank.
US Vice-President JD Vance, who was in Israel at the time babysitting Netanyahu to stop him sabotaging the ceasefire, called the parliamentary vote a “political stunt” and an “insult”.
But the White House’s concern appears to relate chiefly to the timing, which might threaten the ceasefire, rather than the substance.
His replacement, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who arrived in Israel on Thursday, stated of the annexation vote: “At this time, it’s something that we … think might be counterproductive.” Note the conditional “At this time”.
The new, third ruling builds on the second – and hints at the likely outcome of the ICJ’s investigation of Israel for genocide. It finds Israel’s starvation policy in Gaza – the collective punishment of its population – in flagrant violation of international law.
The World Court justices declare: “The occupying Power may never invoke reasons of security to justify the general suspension of all humanitarian activities in an occupied territory.”
That should serve as a stinging rebuke to Starmer, who, as previously noted, declared that Israel had the right to carry out its declared policy of starving the people of Gaza.
The ICJ also rules that Israel must immediately allow in full supplies of food and aid, and cooperate with Unrwa, the UN aid agency that served as the main lifeline for the people of Gaza until Israel banned its operations last year based on a claim it had been infiltrated by Hamas.
The judges found that Israel had never produced any evidence to support such an allegation.
Health ‘catastrophe’
Israel replaced UN food distribution sites in Gaza with four, hard-to-reach “aid hubs” run by a US and Israeli military front group, the wildly misnamed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). It brought in a trickle of aid while Israeli soldiers regularly sprayed gunfire on desperate Palestinians queueing for food, killing and wounding many thousands.
Trump’s 20-point “peace plan” expressly required of Israel that it allow aid distribution “through the United Nations and its agencies”. And yet last Friday Rubio changed his administration’s own rules, as well as defying the World Court, by stating that Unrwa could play “no role” in aid distribution because it was supposedly “a subsidiary of Hamas”.
Tied to Washington’s apron strings, Starmer, like other western leaders, has made vague noises against Israel’s genocidal starvation campaign in Gaza, notably after images of emaciated children came to dominate social media six months ago.
But beyond the optics, he has done nothing substantive to reverse his original support for Israel’s collective punishment of Gaza, its blocking of food, aid and power.
Albanese notes in her new report that, as the Israeli-engineered famine gripped Gaza in the spring, the UK was among a handful of countries that launched operations to parachute aid into the enclave – an operation she describes as “expensive, inadequate and dangerous”.
But even worse, she concludes, the aid drops “only served to mislead international public opinion while the famine worsened”.
When British citizens recently joined an aid flotilla to Gaza, in an attempt to highlight Israel’s illegal naval blockade of the enclave, Starmer pointedly refused to offer them protection, even when they were abducted on the high seas and held in highly abusive conditions in Israel.
Despite Starmer behaving as if Trump’s so-called “peace plan” has ended the “humanitarian crisis” in Gaza, the UN World Food Programme stated last week that aid deliveries continued to remain well below its daily target of 2,000 tonnces.
The World Health Organisation, meanwhile, has warned that the “health catastrophe” Israel has engineered in Gaza will last for “generations to come”.
Trump’s ‘masterplan’
Last week the US news show 60 Minutes interviewed Trump’s two pointmen on Gaza: his son-in-law Jared Kushner, and his special envoy Steve Witkoff.
Kushner was keen to highlight how much destruction Israel had unleashed there, explaining that it looked like a nuclear bomb had been dropped.
This appeared to be his clumsy way of underscoring what an achievement Trump had secured in bringing to a halt the orgy of violence – a campaign of destruction, of course, that was made possible only because the US endlessly supplied Israel with armaments.
But with rising panic etched on his face, Kushner could only look on as Witkoff revealed that the pair had been working on a “masterplan” for Gaza’s reconstruction for two years – long before Gaza was levelled by the Israeli military. “Jared has been pushing this,” Witkoff explained.
Analysts have preferred to characterise Trump’s earlier, stated ambition to “clear out” the people of Gaza and build a playground for the rich – a Gaza Riviera – as some kind of hair-brained, improvised response to the scale of the enclave’s devastation.
But Witkoff indicated something even more sinister. That the Trump team had been informed from the outset of Israel’s bombing campaign that the intention was to eradicate Gaza, not Hamas. And so the Trump entourage began working on a business plan to cash in on the carnage.
Gaza, long the western military-industrial complex’s laboratory for field-testing weapons and surveillance technology, would now be repurposed as the world’s biggest redevelopment site.
As 60 Minutes’ Lesley Stahl approvingly observed of businessmen Kushner and Witkoff: “Part of the plan is the reconstruction, the building, rebuilding of Gaza. And you’re builders. You’ve been in real estate.”
The implication from Witkoff’s slip was clear: that what looked like a genocidal ethnic cleansing operation from the start was indeed just that. Trump’s team knew of Israel’s intentions and began putting together deals – both with the oil-rich Gulf states and, according to Witkoff, with Europe too.
The only continuing obstacle are armed resistance movements in Gaza that Washington is determined to disarm.
Starmer, like other western leaders, has hitched his wagon to the psychopaths who have been running this two-year horror show. It is not going away. They are determined to see it out, and reap the financial rewards.
Which means Starmer will have to maintain his “clash of civilisations” cover story and continue miring British politics more deeply in this divisive narrative.
That will require further demonising Britain’s ethnic minorities. It will exacerbate the country’s race relations wars. It will deepen the polarisation of British politics. Algoritmes worden ook als een vorm van censuur ingezet, zodat je sites en blogs als dit blog niet kan vinden, neem daarom altijd een link over van de sites of blogs die je graag bezoekt, meestal kan dat door simpelweg de naam te slepen naar je werkblak, zo kan je de foto van mijn inmiddels overleden katten Indy en Donnie bovenaan deze pagina naar je werkbalk slepen, je ziet dan een rode 'B' van blogger staan plus een paar woorden, door met je rechtermuisknop (of de rechter kliktoets op je laptop dan wel op je notebook) daarop te klikken, kan je die woorden verwijderen en daar bijvoorbeeld A, of Ap invullen (van Azijnpisser) vervolgens word je door daarop te klikken direct naar dit blog geleid.

TABAKSACCIJNS EN CORRUPTIE
Tips voor 'vapers': veel gezeur anno 2019 over vapen en een 'vreemde longziekte'. Gebruik je e-sigaret niet als een gewone sigaret, immers die brand op en je moet dus blijven roken tot je het zat bent of tot de sigaret op is. Dit hoeft niet met de e-sigaret, deze werkt, mits opgeladen en gevuld met vloeistof, direct en je kan deze na een paar trekken wegleggen. Nogmaals: gebruik de e-sigaret dan ook niet als een sigaret. Daarover gesproken: als je aan een e-sigaret trekt doe dit dan niet direct op je longen, maar als een sigaret, dus eerst in je mond en dan pas inademen. Het laatste zie je maar weinig mensen doen (althans ik zie dat weinig). Directe inademing is overigens ook al niet nodig als je wiet of hasj rookt, ook het in je longen houden van de rook met wiet of hasj is totaal overbodig, je kan dit gewoon als een sigaret roken, 'stoned' wordt je toch wel en even snel. Houd je aan deze zaken en je zal zien dat je met vapen heel veel minder tabak rookt, of daar zelfs helemaal mee kan stoppen! Dan nog het volgende: vape alleen met vloeistof die van tabak is gemaakt, de extra smaken voegen meer overbodige schadelijke stoffen toe. Het is een misvatting dat vapen even slecht is als tabak, er zitten aanzienlijk minder schadelijke stoffen in en in vergelijking met de gewone sigaret, bevat de vape vloeistof maar één verslavende stof en dat is nicotine (in de gewone sigaret zitten meerdere verslavende stoffen waar de minst verslavende nicotine is !!!).Tot slot, rook je nog niet? Begin er niet aan en ga ajb niet vapen! Verslaving aan tabak is een vervelende en uiterst kostbare ziekte.
Per 1 maart 2011 werden de tabaksaccijns verhoogd. Voor shag ging de prijs met 0,26 cent per pakje van 45 gram omhoog.
Per 1 juli 2012 verhoogden de fabrikanten de prijs van tabak, voor een pakje shag met 15 cent. Per 1 januari 2013 wordt de prijs van tabak door de regering nog eens verhoogd, voor shag maar liefst 60 cent per pakje!
Maar er is meer, de belastingdienst heeft gezorgd voor minimum accijns: het absolute bedrag dat wordt geheven, is per 1 maart 2011 zodanig verhoogd, dat deze ten alle tijde gelijk is aan het bedrag dat als accijns wordt geheven op de hoogste prijsklasse. Een leuk cadeau in 2011, van de zeer 'integere' CDA tabakslobbyist Hillen en het laatste kabinet Balkenende, voor de grote tabaksfabrikanten, waar zoals gezegd in 2012 nog een cadeau van het disfunctionerende demissionaire kabinet Rutte bijkwam in 2013, met hulp van 'oppositiepartijen D66, GL en CU.
Daarnaast zijn al die prijsverhogingen een mooi cadeau voor de georganiseerde misdaad, die jaarlijks miljarden sigaretten smokkelen. Niets nieuws, want het CDA heeft via de EVP toch al hechte banden met de maffia, bij de VVD is het al niet veel anders en zoals blijkt ook bij D66, GL en CU.
Begin februari 2011 werd bekend, dat een onderdeel van defensie zich bezighield met misdaad, o.a. werd de smokkel van illegale sigaretten genoemd....
Vooralsnog weigert (september 2012) demissionair minister van Volksgezondheid Schippers de tabaksindustrie te dwingen de samenstelling van 'geheime' stoffen in tabak prijs te geven, stoffen die de verslaving aan tabak verzwaren en die de gezondheid nog meer schaden...
Het is zelfs zo zot, dat de minst verslavende stof in tabak nicotine is...... Nadat D66 hufter Borst weigerde de extra verslavende stoffen in tabak te verbieden, daar dit het roken zou bevorderen, hebben alle regeringen daarna deze meer dan schunnige houding
gevolgd.....
Totale opbrengst van tabaksaccijns in 2011: twaalf miljard euro!!!!!!!!!!! Dus als u nog eens wilt zeuren over de hoge kosten die rokers voor de gezondheidszorg opleveren..............
Het is intussen 2019 en nog steeds liegt men in de politiek dat prijsverhogingen het enige middel is om roken tegen te gaan. Daarvoor wijst men naar Australië, zonder te melden dat daar het aantal gerookte illegale sigaretten volgens deskundigen het aantal legaal verkochte sigaretten benadert...... Overigens is het nu al een paar jaar zo dat het aantal rokers in Nederland niet daalt, ondanks de enorme prijsverhogingen (waarvan vooral arme Nederlanders het slachtoffer zijn en zoals je weet: financiële problemen zijn geen stimulans om te stoppen met roken....).......

Muziektip van uw Azijnpisser bij de koppen en aanhangsels van Wilders en andere fascisten
Zit u zich te ergeren aan Wilders of andere politici met aanhangsels, beluister dan bijvoorbeeld Alabama 3 met het nummer 'Woody Guthrie' van de cd 'Power in the blood'. En u weet het: geluidsniveau 80 en de bas op abn (aardbevingsniveau). U zult merken dat u daar weer wat rustiger van wordt. Wetenschappelijk is het al vaker bewezen: muziek kan geneeskrachtig werken!
Atoom-stroom
Er werd tot voor kort veel reclame gemaakt voor atoomstroom. Als u in het bezit bent van 2 hersencellen of meer, zal u de leugens onmiddellijk herkennen. Voor de 1 hersen-celligen of andere dombo's het volgende: atoom-stroom is allesbehalve co2 vrij, kijk naar de bouw van zo'n centrale, afbraak is nog nooit gedaan en is praktisch bijna onhaalbaar. Bij de winning van uranium ontstaat een gigantische milieuvervuiling. Van ellende weten we niet waar we met het afval naar toe moeten. Dan de leugen subsidievrij: er is geen manier van energie opwekken, waar zoveel subsidie voor is gebruikt en gebruikt wordt dan voor kernenergie. Nog belangrijker: u scheept de wereld, uw kinderen en kindskinderen op met een gevaarlijk afval probleem, niet alleen het kernafval, ook de gebouwen die blijven staan zijn levensgevaarlijk afval! Het is inmiddels april 2013 en zijn we de ramp met de kerncentrales in het Japanse Fukushima 'rijker', intussen is het ongeveer een jaar geleden, dat de pro-kernenergie reclames te horen waren, maar waakzaamheid blijft geboden. De lobbyisten voor deze peperdure en levensgevaarlijke technologie werken dag en nacht door..... Samsom, de PvdA windvaan was voor de ramp in Japan, al 'voorzichtig' voor kernenergie, een mening die 180 graden draaide na de ramp in Fukushima, maar kijk niet op, als hij later zijn mening weer eens omdraait... Aanvulling op de veiligheid: volgens IT specialist Ronald Prins van Fox-IT, kan een elektriciteitscentrale via internet worden aangevallen, zelfs als de systemen niet op dat net zijn aangesloten (zie mijn bericht van 10 december 2010)
Het is bij de laatste aanpassing van deze boodschap april 2013 en binnenkort wordt de kerncentrale van Borssele stilgelegd voor de jaarlijkse controle, Essent en Delta hebben met de overheid afgesproken niet het hele reactorvat op haarscheurtjes te controleren.... (zie o.a. mijn berichten van 11 april 2013 en 4 maart 2015).
